So far 1 wisdom teeth has come out completely (upper left) and hasn%26#039;t bothered me at all... however, the one at the upper right has started coming out recently, but I can only see/feel the front part of it, and it%26#039;s been cutting away at my inner cheek to the point where I just have a blister there..
If the tooth doesn%26#039;t come out completely, is it going to have to be pulled? And if it does get pulled, do they go ahead and pull all the others as well? (the bottom ones haven%26#039;t come out yet, however the lower right one is already bumpy as if there%26#039;s something there, so it%26#039;ll probably be out sooner or later.)
Wisdom teeth?
If the tooth doesn%26#039;t come in completely they most likely will pull it. Honestly, they may pull all of them just to ensure they won%26#039;t be a problem to you later on in life. I haven%26#039;t had mine pulled yet, but I think they%26#039;re going to take them out soon. I%26#039;ve heard that it really isn%26#039;t that bad, and that they%26#039;ll give you pain killers for after the extraction.
Reply:Yeah it%26#039;ll prolly have to be pulled if it%26#039;s hurting your mouth. They might pull out the others, but only if it hurts you too.

Wisdom teeth!?
im getting an impacted wisdom rooth removed in a few weeks and im really scared...about anesthesia (sp?) and pain afterwards and other stuff. anyone have experience with getting wisdom teeth removed that they want to share?
Wisdom teeth!?
Do not be scared. I had four taken out and the dentist gave me good drugs so I didn%26#039;t even know what was going on. It was over before I knew it and I wasn%26#039;t even sore. If your tooth is impacted it needs to come out before it causes you a lot of pain. Good luck!
Reply:I had all 4 removed,,,, you sit down pass out and then you wake up.... The anesthesia wears off in 2-3 hours,, so goto sleep when you get home,,, you will be fine in three days..
Reply:You%26#039;ll be fine. Calm down a little hon%26#039;. Don%26#039;t need to get all worked up. Had my impacted wisdom teeth our 20 yrs. ago. Just make sure someone goes with you as you will not be able to drive home afterwards with the anesthesia Yes you will be in pain, but the Vicodin will help along with that. Get lost of rest. Take care hon%26#039; and good luck.
Reply:I got impacted mandibular wisdoms and I had those taken out.. It was done by oral surgery residents at a hospital where I was doing my clinical rotations while I was in dental school.
It was done with just local block anesthesia (I was not put to sleep), and it took 2 hours because I got crooked roots. I didn%26#039;t feel any pain while it was done. It took 4 carpules of Lidocaine total.
I did get swelling and some soreness for a few days after the extractions because some bone had been drilled away to access the jammed wisdoms, but that%26#039;s easy to manage (the residents gave me an Rx of Penicillin VK and Tylenol w/ codeine #3). I was fine after 3 days or so.
Despite being scared to death before the procedure, my experience turned out to be no big deal.
These days I%26#039;m on the other side of the chair doing the extractions.. No complaints from my patients so far. :-)
Reply:i%26#039;ve always been highly scared of going to the dentist (i had a horrible dentist as a child). so when i got mine takin out a few months ago i was freaking out bad. i went with the local because thats what my insurance would pay for. the assistant came in an gave me this stuff to numb my mouth its a really powerful oralgel (sp) they let it stay in there for 5 min. her and the oral surgeon came into the room he gave me 4 shots in the mouth and waited 10 min. to make sure i wouldnt feel anything. he had the tooth out in a matter of minutes i didnt feel anything he gave me some pain medication for when the shots wore off, it stopped hurting in a day. i hope my story helps you just make sure that when they do go to pull the tooth out your mouth is completely numb the dentist i had as a child wouldnt.

Wisdom teeth?
I am getting my wisdom teeth out in about a month, and I was wondering if any one could share their experience of getting their teeth out. This is my first surgery ever, and I am very scared. I just would like to know what is going to happen and what to expect.
Wisdom teeth?
Make sure you have them all taken out at the same time while being put to sleep. You will not feel or remember the surgery. It is safe, as they don%26#039;t put you completely under - but you are out enough to not feel or remember. Put ice around your throat afterward to prevent swelling. Don%26#039;t rinse, smoke, drink from a straw, or drink carbonated beverages for 24 hours after surgery as it can lead to dry socket (which is very painful!). If you have it done on a Friday - you will be fine by Monday. Good luck! It will be fine!
Reply:There%26#039;s not much to it really, they give you a numbing agent via needles of course but once they pull them out your mouth will be very sore for the next couple of days, but then again pain may vary from person to person. so good luck with it!
Reply:Everyone%26#039;s experience is different, and yours will be too. Some say it was agony, but I didn%26#039;t feel a thing. In fact, mine were impacted and had to be surgically removed. It was weird seeing the dentist put a scalpel in my mouth, but I was numb and ready for it. You can hear a little crunching and feel the twisting as he tries to work it out, and it may feel a little odd, but it didn%26#039;t hurt for me. I had stitches in my mouth for a week, and only needed the Motrin he prescribed to take down the swelling. I never took the Percoset he gave me with it, I didn%26#039;t need it. It was pretty smooth. Would I do it again? No, but it%26#039;s not my worst painful memory either.
Reply:I just got mine puuled out last month. There is nothing to it really. You can%26#039;t eat and drink for a while before. And when it is over your mouth is so numb you can%26#039;t feel the pain. And the pain wasn%26#039;t even bad at all. It is bareable pain.
Reply:It depends on who is removing them. An oral surgeon can %26quot;knock you out%26quot;, a general dentist can give you an IV but it won%26#039;t sedate you fully. I had my wisdom teeth taken out at 16 by a dentist. The anaesthesia didn%26#039;t work and the dentist went ahead with the procedure. It was a terrifying experience. The dentist tried to cover it up and prescribed painkillers that I was eventually overdosed on (long story, overreaction of parents etc). I also got a very painful infection the following week.
Have the procedure done by an oral surgeon. Follow the post-op instructions very carefully to avoid infection. Don%26#039;t go out to eat or and limit socializing for a week. (5-7 days)
I don%26#039;t want to scare you needlessly. However, I know most people have the procedure done by oral surgeons and don%26#039;t have any problems. don%26#039;t try to act tough, let the surgeon know you are scared. They will give you more time to relax and will reassure you.
Reply:Having my wisdom teeth out was the first surgery I had also. You are having oral surgery to have them removed right? For me they gave me a drug that let me stay awake, but not feel any pain. But other people I know have been put to sleep for it. I really don%26#039;t remember the surgery, just that I felt really drunk and silly during it. Once it was over I went home with some pain killers and the orders to eat soft food. I won%26#039;t lie to you, I felt a lot of pain, but I was a wussy so don%26#039;t let that scare you some people handle pain better than others. But I really needed the pain killers to help ease the pain. I slept a lot for the first couple of days and eating was not fun. I had lots of soft stuff but it hurt to open my jaw too wide. They had me do these exercises where I put two fingers in my mouth to stretch my jaw back to normal. After a couple weeks I was back to normal. Good luck with your surgery!!
Reply:There was nothing to worry about because the dentist numbs you up real good and some people have asked to be put to sleep. The only thing that happened to me was when the numbness wears off and I kept my pain pills very close.

Wisdom teeth?
I got all four of my wisdom teeth out at age 15. I am now 23 and for years now I experience pain where my teeth had been removed years ago my gums ache especially on the bottom all the way in the back. Has anyone else experienced this? What could it be?
Wisdom teeth?
Hi SB. You may be experiencing a common condition that results from tooth extractions known as cavitational osteonecrosis. This is a relatively newly recognized condition that appears to be a common consequence of extractions. A low-grade, chronic infection develops in the bone after the tooth extraction (also after a root-canal). A specialist can perform a surgical procedure that %26#039;cleans out%26#039; the infection to allow the bone to heal.
You may want to read a book on this subject by Robert Kulacz, DDS and Thomas Levy, M.D. called: The Roots of Disease: Connecting Dentistry and Medicine. The book is available at Amazon.com.
Note: this is a controversial issue (dentists often do not want to acknowledge the potential harm inherent in some of their procedures - their incomes are at stake). You may have difficulty getting your dentist to take your symptoms seriously. Fortunately, there are dentists who actually READ their own research journals and have developed expertise in this area. Best wishes and good luck.
Reply:I DONT KNOW I AHVE MY WISDOM TEETH STILL AND THAT HERTS LIKE HELL...... CALL YOUR DENTIST~! DOES IT HERT WHEN YOU HAVE THEM TAKEN OUT?
Reply:It could be something as simple as a bone fragment or possibly they did not remove the entire tooth and there is still part of the root left inside the canal. Visit your dentist and ask them to take an xray to see what is going on, that is really the only way to know for sure. Good luck.
Reply:Could be that they did not remove the whole tooth, visit your dentist and get xrays to know for sure. Good Luck.
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry to say but i haven%26#039;t been through the procedure yet. I%26#039;m 21 and on a waiting list to have all four of mine removed too.I%26#039;m terrified apparently one of mine is extremely close to a nerve. When i went in for my consultation i was so scared,if you don%26#039;t mind me asking how much swelling was involved and how long was the whole process?
Reply:YOU HAVE DOG JAWS The symptoms may be secondary to trigeminal neuralgia. The trigeminal nerve supplies sensation to the face. After surgical procedures on the face or teeth this nerve can sometimes become irritated. This results is severe lacinating pain. This condition is typically treated with anti-epileptics such as carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, or gabapentin (Neurontin). You should discuss this possibility with the neurologist.
Regarding testing, an EMG (muscle/nerve test) can be done on facial muscles, but it is very limited. I would see what the neurologist finds first and then proceed with testing. Good luckOG JAW
Reply:i would suggest for you to see your dentist and ask to take xrays on that area when they took out the wisdom teeth, this way they can tell whats going on. tell them exactly your problem so that they can help you with your matter. good luck

Wisdom Teeth . . .?
I believe what I%26#039;m about to refer to are my wisdom teeth. I%26#039;m 21 years old, and my wisdom have still not come in all the way.
It%26#039;s like there half way grown . . .does that make sense? Their not crooked or anything they just haven%26#039;t come down all the way.
Will they eventually? There appears to be tons of room back there.
Wisdom Teeth . . .?
my wisdom teeth started coming in when I was 14 years old. three of them came in just fine, but the fourth went up and down until it recently finally broke through. I%26#039;m 21 too. Some people%26#039;s never come in all the way though. If they don%26#039;t bug you you%26#039;ll just have to play the waiting game.
Reply:Sometimes they will sometime they wont. My dentist said i have a wisdom tooth way up there and it probably wont come down. My other upper came in half way. I got my lowers removed. If they are straight and all is good then you should be ok. Sometime they do come down all the way. Sometimes they come down half way. Sometimes they just break the surface.
Reply:My bottom wisdom teeth also came up only half way. My problem was a small mouth and no room for the wisdom teeth. I talked to my dentist at that time (20 yrs ago) and decided to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed. My parents had had impacted wisdom teeth, and I did not want to wait for that possibility to happen to me. Talk to your dentist, have x-rays taken and then decide the course of action you should take.

Wisdom Teeth?
If you%26#039;ve had braces and your teeth are in perfect condition, is it wise to make sure your wisdom teeth are pulled out when they%26#039;re bout ready to come in? Do they ALWAYS mess up your teeth?
Wisdom Teeth?
They dont ALWAYS mess up your teeth but it is a good idea to get them X-rayed by the dentist when you feel them starting to come through and see if they are growing in the wrong way and if they are...its best to get them out asap and just be done with it
Reply:No, they don%26#039;t. The consensus on whether or not wisdom teeth have the power to mess up ALL your dentition isn%26#039;t out yet. Different schools of thought exist to whether or not one single tooth in the back has that much force to make that much difference
Reply:I worked for years in an ortho office and saw tons of peeps who never got their wisdoms looked at... who had the rest of their teeth crowd forward when the back teeth tried to come in.
I also saw lots of people who had their wisdom teeth come in with no problem. (Not as many as in the first category tho%26#039;).
So the answer is: go to your dentist and ask for a panoramic xray to have the position of your wisdom teeth checked.
S/he will be able to tell if there%26#039;s room for them. If there%26#039;s not, get em removed. And do it sooner than later, since the roots get longer every year for a while and they%26#039;re easier to get out when they aren%26#039;t as fully developed.
(Wisdom teeth are also called %26quot;eights%26quot;, 3rd molars, or 21-year molars)
Reply:My dentist made me get braces when I was really young so I assume he would have said something if my wisdom teeth were going to mess things up. I had 4 teeth removed in order to get braces so I may have had more room for wisdom teeth. I went back to my orthodontist years after having braces because I was worried about my bottom teeth starting to move. He said that although my wisdom teeth probably weren%26#039;t helping, %26quot;teeth move%26quot;, so basically if you%26#039;ve had braces your teeth will move over the years after you get them off regardless of whether you get wisdom teeth or not. I just had space for my wisdom teeth cut out of my clear retainer that I was given to use after I had my braces removed and I%26#039;ve taken to wearing that again.

Wisdom Teeth?
Just five minutes ago, my tooth decayed and cracked in half. I took the other half out, and yes I%26#039;m o-k, but I%26#039;m seriously worried. I know around the ages of 7 and up is when you start to grow your wisdom teeth, but when do they stop growing in? I%26#039;m 16 years old now, and I have a gap between the 2 teeth on the side of my mouth, and I wanted to know if there was still a chance of me getting one naturally replaced.
Wisdom Teeth?
Wisdom teeth are in the back of your mouth. If you have a space missing between two teeth, it%26#039;s not your wisdom teeth. Your baby teeth have fallen out and no, it will not grow back. You will need a fake tooth put in (cosmetic, not necessary). Get to a dentist as soon as possible and have your teeth checked. You don%26#039;t want this to happen to more.
Reply:If its decayed and not a baby tooth, then you stand the chance of getting an abscess. Trust me I know, I have one now that I waited around on and now I have to have it cut out cause I waited too long and its abscessed and is a major mess. Even if its a baby tooth you may have some infection. Go to a dentist, if its not a baby tooth, you might be able to get a crown if taken care of promptly and correctly. Just go as soon as possible and don%26#039;t mess around like I did.
